The Other night i was asked by my friend’s at DeLeon Tequila to continue our concert series portraits and live shots project.. I had never heard of this young band that are making quite the impression.. we went to The Box for soundcheck and then the show.. Here are just a few pics.. check out Foster the People.. great new band to watch and who are playing Coachella tomorrow for the first time.
Don Hill (R.I.P.)
Yesterday marks the passing of a NYC rock and roll legend.. Don Hill (The owner and operator of one of our favorite nighttime hangouts and live show venues for years and years, DON HILL’S).. We thank him for not only keeping the NYC underground rock scene alive but for also always being so kind and always a great host.. Thankfully Don has passed the torch to my good friend, Nur, who will certainly keep his spirit and sanctuary for amazing small live shows alive.. Rest in Peace Don… u lived a life unlike most and one that few get to experience…
Random (Desert Story - Namibia)
It’s been cold and dreary for too long here in NYC.. It feels like sunny warm days are now the exception and not the rule… we are waiting for spring to arrive and then finally summer.. raining today.. and apparently snow on the way.. again!!! so i reminisce of this amazing time shooting in the deep red dune desert of Namibia.. where warm, sunny and dry days are the rule and not the exception…

The Kills @ Don Hills
2 nights ago my dear friends, Jamie and Alison (THE KILLS) played an amazing show at Don Hills.. Presented by Nur Khan sponsored by Deleon Tequila… I was so happy to get to see them perform after quite some time and to be surrounded by close friends.. They played mostly new songs from their forthcoming album, Blood Pressures.. FLIP
I am proud to announce that my book, FLIP, is now available!! I was asked by Gravure Editions to do a small book based off of my personal home sittings.. where I shoot at home without any production (hair, makeup or styling on set).. So i set out to shoot several women that I see as the Muses of today.. ELISA SEDNOUI, PAZ DE LA HUERTA, POPPY DELEVIGNE & ANOUCK LEPERE…Women that while being obviously beautiful also have a certain allure and transcend the fashion & film worlds.. Women with unique personalities, intelligence and vision.. Women that I find beyond interesting and proudly call my friends.. Last night i finally got to watch Tiny Furniture (written, directed and acted by Lena Dunham).. i Loved this small honest film about a young woman finding her way here in NYC after graduating and moving back home.. Lena and i took these pics right before the film came out.. Lena is a wonderful, charming, intelligent woman & a real pleasure to be around..
Oh Land
Last night I was invited to a special EP release performance of Oh Land.. by Sony Music at Hiro Ballroom. I shot Nanna Øland for a portfolio of young up and coming musicians, designers, actors & writers and artists for Blackbook Magazine.. Nanna (yes, that’s her name) was a ballerina and now is Sony’s new Danish, electropop “it girl”.. she has an ethereal voice and sound.. When we shot.. I blew up a bunch of balloons and i told Nanna to play a game i used to play as a child.. “don’t let the balloons hit the ground!” for the most part.. she didn’t.. Funny, last night her stage was decorated with a bunch of Balloons check out Oh Land
